Mary McDonnell

 

Mary Eileen McDonnell (born April 28 1952) is an American film, stage, and TV actress. Her performances in Dances with Wolves, Stands With A Fist and Passion Fish saw her receive Academy Award nominations. McDonnell is well-known for her portrayals of First Lady Marilyn Whitmore in Independence Day and President Laura Roslin on Battlestar Galactica. McDonnell played Captain Sharon Raydor on seasons 5-7 of TNT's series The Closer. She also appeared on Major Crimes, the spin-off series of TNT's network, as Commander Sharon Raydor.
